tracking gives me mixed feelings

Hi Reader!

What are your thoughts on food tracking?

Honestly, I have mixed feelings.

On one hand, I can see why it would be helpful and why soooo many weight-loss coaches force people to do it (which I don't agree with).

But I have also seen it fail.

I have had so many people (clients and students alike) tell me its detrimental to their mental health.

I prioritize mental health first which is why I am always on the fence about it and I never force it on anyone.

Do I suggest it for some people, yes. (You can watch my method here). But I also don't think you need to do it. Especially, if you have any past disordered eating behaviors or any anxiety towards tracking, period full stop.

Its also not always necessary.

Its a big reason why I teach the Trifecta instead. Because its simple and to the point. Instead of looking at every single thing you eat and making sure you write it all down or scan it into an app (which neither is easy in my opinion), which can be very tedious and frankly, annoying to do.

You focus on just three things (protein + fiber + fat) instead. Because if you got those 3 things in each meal, all your bases are covered (metabolism boost, fat loss, immunity, gut health, energy. the list goes on....)

I rather teach you how to read your body, understand how food choices affect your daily life, and just give you real nutrition knowledge that you can apply yourself to make better decisions. You can do this in combo with tracking if you want, but you don't always have to to see results.

The biggest gift I give people is them finally figuring out what has been or has not been working ON THEIR OWN. Especially if you can do it without an app helping you. You just KNOW and can just...live your life?? (with no more food stress or anxiety!)

When you don't need outside help to help you stick to eating healthy meals consistently, or when you can finally stop the struggle, its FREEING.

That's the best gift.

At least I think so. What about you?

Have a lovely weekend,

Lia

PS: Learning how to read your body (what to look for!), how to intuitively eat, what the Trifecta is (and why it hits all the bases!) are just some of the things you learn inside the Radiance Collective.

The Radiance Collective is the go to place for metabolism and gut health advice, community, support, accountability, and coaching from a certified nutrition coach, who understands that sometimes we are just too busy to figure it out for ourselves.
