exercise, food, and mental health update

Hi Reader!

What is new with you? This is what is going on in my world.

Exercise: I ran my 5K last weekend (1st one in about 10 years!). It was great! My goal was to finish in under 45 min and I completed in 43 min (I actually managed to jog most of the first 2 mi, which is good for this non-runner!).

I was sufficiently pooooped for the next few days afterwards and took some time off my workouts to just give my body a break. But it did feel good getting back to my normal HIIT workouts again.

As much fun as the 5K was to run, I don't think I will be adding running to my weekly routine. Its too much on my ankles (and I kinda get bored with it, if I am being honest).

Food: My son has been completely obsessed with Godzilla, everything Godzilla for months now. Including the Japanese ones, which I have to read to him because they are all subtitles, so together we started bonding over Japanese culture, including food!!

I appreciate how they keep things simple with just rice, soup, meat and veggies. So that is the food vibe in my house at the moment. Especially now that fall is here and comfort warming foods are in season!

Focusing on real wholesome foods, without all the sauces, sugar and breads feels like a break on my digestion and I feel a lot lighter eating this way. (Japanese food naturally f0llows the Trifecta, so it hits all the important nutrition points easily!)

Mental Health: I have been taking a lot of social media breaks, because it really increases my anxiety. But the need to be on my phone still is there a lot, so I have the Kindle app and recently downloaded Duolingo (learning Japanese for fun too!), which fulfills this need, without having to click on Instagram or TikTok.

I actually learned this trick from a client I had a few years ago. She told me that she purposely put other apps on her phone that fulfills that need to be on her phone, but aren't social media. It works! Try it!!

What have you been working on? Any new foods? Reply and let me know what's going on in your world!

Or do you need help incorporating some new health tricks into your life to make yourself feel less stressed and anxious? Or worried that the upcoming holiday season will derail your health progress?

Happy Monday! Hope you have a wonderful and productive week ahead!

Love,

Lia
